Every now and then, a property comes along that reminds me why Hawaiʻi Island real estate is so special.
I am so happy to share that our 5-acre Hāmākua Coast hideaway in Honokaʻa has sold. Even better, it sold in under 40 days and for $51,000 over the listing price.
Congratulations to my sellers on such a wonderful result. It was truly a pleasure to represent this beautiful piece of Hawaiʻi Island land, and I am so thankful for the trust they gave us.
This property had that peaceful, authentic Big Island feeling the moment you arrived. Gently rolling pastureland, ocean views, mature guava trees, birds singing in the morning, and the peaceful beauty that makes the Hāmākua Coast so beloved.
Listed at $399,000, this was a rare opportunity to own 5 acres of ocean-view land in Honokaʻa for less than $100,000 per acre. With no HOA, very simple CCRs, and so much natural beauty, it offered buyers something that is becoming harder to find on Hawaiʻi Island: space, privacy, flexibility, and room for a personal vision.
For many buyers, land is more than acreage. It is about possibility. It is about standing on a property, looking out at the ocean, feeling the breeze, hearing the birds, and imagining what life could become.
This Honokaʻa land offered exactly that.
The existing octagon-shaped accessory structure added even more character. Permitted as a frame utility shed and sold as-is, it included a one-room living area with a kitchenette, composting toilet, outdoor shower, small catchment system, and solar panel. Electricity was not connected, but the previous owner had already installed underground conduit at the road, giving the next owner a helpful start for future service.
The strong response to this sale shows that buyers are still looking for special land opportunities on Hawaiʻi Island, especially properties with ocean views, privacy, usable acreage, and a peaceful country setting.
Hāmākua Coast real estate has always had a unique appeal. It feels green, open, and deeply connected to the natural beauty of the island. The town of Honokaʻa has even more charm with its local shops, restaurants, historic theater, farmers’ market, and welcoming small-town feel.
This sale served as a beautiful reminder that when a property has the right combination of location, views, value, and potential, buyers pay attention.
A big mahalo to the sellers, to Pam Decker for co-listing this special property with me, and to everyone who showed interest in this Hāmākua Coast opportunity.
And one more little note: a new listing is coming up soon.
Stay tuned to Coconut Wireless.
If you are thinking about selling land, acreage, a home, or a unique property on Hawaiʻi Island, I would be happy to talk story and share what I am seeing in today’s market.
